“The care here at St Michael’s hasn’t just been good – it’s been fantastic.”

Joe Scholes is full of praise for the care he has received whilst staying at St Michael’s.

His son Adam (pictured, left) felt the same way and, together with two friends, embarked on a fundraising hike up Ben Nevis, which has raised over £4,000 for us to date.

“I’m so proud of Adam and everyone who sponsored him,” said Joe, who lives in Powys and first came into contact with St Michael’s via a referral from his Macmillan nurse. “It means so much to me that this money is coming to St Michael’s. The care I’ve received here has been exemplary. I can’t speak highly enough of everyone here. The care and compassion comes from everyone, from the cleaners and volunteers to the nurses and doctors.”

Adam and his friends completed their Ben Nevis trail within eight hours, enjoying “a dram of brandy for the old man” on the summit.

The friends smashed their initial fundraising target of £2,000 and is now on £4,150.

“It was a great experience and I’d like to thank everyone for their generosity and support,” said Adam. “It was all worth it to raise money for St Michael’s. The care they’ve shown dad has been utterly outstanding.”

Without fundraisers like Adam and his friends, Joe wouldn’t be able to receive the care provided by St Michael’s.
