Training in the community
As well as delivering between 15 and 20 different training courses and workshops each year in our study centre at the Hospice, we undertake outreach training in nursing homes, doctor's surgeries, community hospitals and other care giving organisations. This is tailored to the needs of the team and can be one or multiple sessions.
We also work with other groups in the wider community. For instance we are involved in the Post Ordination Training for the Church of England and are currently developing links with schools and colleges helping them to look at topics in the curriculum related to death, dying and loss, euthanasia and assisted dying.
Training in your organisation
Training together as a team on site, either for whole or part of a day or even in a lunch hour, after work or on a weekend, can be a rich experience. For some it is also the only practical or logistical solution.
If you are considering outreach training, you do not need any special facilities. We bring all the equipment we need. You simply have to have enough room for everyone to sit down and ideally a blank wall (to project images); we have delivered courses in very small staff rooms and patient dining areas in the past.
We are very happy to develop tailor made packages to suit the needs of your team on any aspect relevant to palliative care. Fees for tailor made events are negotiated at the time of booking.
