Out-patients
Multidisciplinary outpatient days are held every Monday in the Day Hospice. Patients are referred to this clinic by other specialist Palliative Care professionals such as the Community Macmillan Nurses. During the day individuals can be referred specifically to the relevant professional (medical, social care, spiritual, complimentary therapy, Lymphodeama and psychology) who can give treatment and advice.
Medical outpatient appointments are held on a Monday and a Wednesday at the Hospice. Individuals can be referred by their General Practitioner, hospital consultant or Macmillan nurse. Outpatients have an initial appointment usually with the consultant, which normally lasts about 75 minutes, with follow up appointments lasting about half an hour.
All outpatient appointments are a chance for people with palliative care needs to be assessed by professionals whilst remaining at home, if possible.
