The Sue Parry Six-a-Side Football Tournament kicked off its eighth year of football fundraising on Sunday 6th July at Hereford Leisure Centre, by kind permission of Halo. The tournament is partially organised by the family of Sue Parry (in her memory), Ralph Farmer of the Herefordshire Football Association and St Michael's Hospice Events Team. The many spectators added to the community atmosphere, cheering on all the different ages of footballers. The tournament got under way starting with the Under 9s competition at 10am and finishing with the Adults tournament in the afternoon.

The winners of the adult competition were Tangerine Dream who beat runners-up team Spuds. Under 9s winners were Pegasus Juniors, beating Hereford Colts. Leominster Minors won the Under 10s competition, with Bartestree Bulls in second place. The two teams from Credenhill came first and second in the final of the Under 12 contest and Hereford Junior Dynamos beat Sutton Scorpions for the title in the Under 14s tournament.

The organisers would like to thank all of the referees, particularly those who filled in on the day due to unforeseen circumstances and St John's Ambulance. Thanks also to all of the Tournament sponsers: Lilly Rawkins, Len Miller from Trionic Joinery, Trionic Joinery & Building Co Ltd, Oakchurch, Tudors Building Suppliers, Wormelow Home & Garden, and Mayglothing Waste Ltd.

The Sue Parry Fundraising Team provided plenty of refreshments for competitors and spectators alike and the event has so far raised £3,700 of much needed funds for both FC Phoenix Ability Counts and St Michael's Hospice.
