Marathon Eryri 2024

Run with St Michael’s on Saturday 26th October.

Run with reason for St Michael’s Hospice! Take on the demanding and spectacular route, encircling Snowdon, Wales’ and England’s highest peak.

About

To celebrate our 40 years of care, we have teamed up with Marathon Eryri, who are celebrating their 40th event. This unique marathon has a limited entry of just 2,800 places. The official ballot has now closed, but we are lucky enough to have four places available to those who wish to fundraise for us. If you would like to take on this challenge and raise a minimum of £500 sponsorship for care at St Michael’s Hospice, please click on the ‘Register your interest today’ button below.

We would especially love to hear from you if you are also celebrating the ‘big 4-0’ this year, but anyone can register their interest for a place by Thursday 28th March. Places will be awarded by Friday 12th April.

What to expect

The inaugural Snowdonia Marathon was held in 1982 and was conceived as a dramatic alternative to the numerous city and town races becoming so popular. The demanding and spectacular route, encircling Snowdon, Wales’ and England’s highest peak, has given the event a unique place in the annual marathon calendar ever since. Race start time is 10.30am from just outside Llanberis.

The route follows the A4086 and climbs to the top of the Llanberis Pass (Pen y Pass 1.100ft). Dropping down to the Pen Y Cwyryd junction, the race then follows the old road along to the campsite until it joins the A498. This 2km section is farm track, downhill, then the surface returns to the tarmac. There is a short, sharp uphill back up to the main road at the campsite. The route then continues to the Beddgelert (200ft) and then continues along the A4085 to Waunfawr. From here it is a rapid climb to about 1,200ft at Bwlch y Groes (a short length is unmetalled) and then downhill to the finish in Llanberis.

Numbers are limited so get in quick!

We have just 4 places as part of the St Michael’s Hospice team entry for this year’s Marathon Eryri.

Each place costs just £30, with a minimum fundraising target of £500. But, if you enter before 12pm on Thursday 28th March, you can get your place for only £25!

Prior to the event, you will be invited to a ‘Meet and Greet’ where you can meet Gaynor, from our Fundraising team, who will support you with your fundraising, helping you raise as much sponsorship as possible. It’ll also be an ideal opportunity to get to know the other team members running for St Michael’s Hospice.
