Sue Parry Six-a-Side Football Tournament Results
Football Tournament Success
75 teams challenged each other in this year's Sue Parry Six-a-Side Football Tournament on Sunday 18th July. The event, celebrating its 10th anniversary, was held at Hereford Leisure Centre, by kind permission of Halo, and organised by the Sue Parry Fundraising Team and St Michael's Hospice.
Under windy conditions the teams were whittled down to the finalists and runners up of each competition; all received a trophy to commemorate their achievements. The winners of the Adult Tournament were Wormelow Wizzards who beat Ross Juniors FC into second place. The results for the Junior Tournament are as follows: Under 9s winners were Pegasus Juniors, beating Hereford Juniors Dynamos; FC Phoenix Blues won the Under 10s competition; the Bartestree A team came first in the final of the U12s contest and Aylestone Lads won the title in the Under 14s tournament.
The Sue Parry Fundraising Team provided plenty of refreshments for competitors and spectators alike and, over the past 10 years, this event has raised approximately £70,000 of much needed funds for St Michael's Hospice. The tournament is a fundraising idea by Sue's family and friends in her memory, as she was "sports mad".
The organisers would like to thank all of the referees for their superb assistance as well as: Herefordshire FA, Gloria Green, Hereford Ice-creams, Joanna's Palliative Care, Stuart Buchanan & Dave Jones, Ralph Farmer.
