Kilimanjaro trek to buy Hospice Syringe Driver
Alice Jones and Louise Page are climbing the dizzying heights of Kilimanjaro, a whopping 19,330 feet, to raise money for St Michael's Hospice in June this year.
On the 30th June the pair, a student from Cardiff University and nurse from Hereford Hospital, are heading to face Kilimanjaro in an attempt to raise enough money to buy a syringe driver for the Hospice, an essential tool in managing the medication given to patients. In Louise's profesional capacity as a nurse, she knows the importance and difference a key piece of equipment like this can make to a patient.
Louise explained:
"As a nurse I have day to day dealings with the Hospice and know the good work they do. Syringe Drivers are so expensive but can make a real difference to the management of medicaation for patients so we thought let's fundraise for one of those. They are an important piece of equipment but cost £1000 each. So, we are hoping to raise enough moneyto buy at lease one fo them for the Hospice."
The ladies are funding the trip themselves but want to appeal to any local businesses or residents who may want to help them raise their target of £1000.
