From May 2009, St Michael's Hospice is hoping to raise an extra £100,000!

How are we going to achieve this? We will achieve this by launching a campaign to claim from the Government an extra 28p in the £1 from donated goods that are sold in our charity shops

What do customers have to do? Take your donated goods into our charity shops throughout Herefordshire and surrounding counties, and give your permission for St Michael's to claim the extra money from the Government. It will cost you nothing and we have the potential to raise an extra £100,000 or more.

Which shops are participating? Initially, the following shops will be running this campaign;
85, Whitecross Road, Hereford (Furniture Warehouse)
2 Holme Lacy Road, Hereford (Furniture Warehouse)
45 Eign Gate, Hereford
44 Folly Lane, Hereford
The Homend, Ledbury
11-12 Station Yard, Leominster (Furniture Warehouse)
16 Castle Street, Hay-on-Wye
We hope to run this system thorough all of our shops in time.

Do I have to be a tax payer? Yes, you do have to be a UK tax payer and pay an amount of income and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that we reclaim on your donations.

I regularly donate goods to your shops. Will I have to complete a form every time I donate? No, you just complete one initial form and are issued with a plastic card with your donor ID number on. This needs to be produced each time you donate. That is all you have to do.

Can I Gift Aid furniture that I donate? You certainly can. In fact, the higher the value of the donated item, the more money we are able to claim.

I have noticed that other charities run the scheme already. Yes, the potential extra income that can be raised from this scheme is tremendous. St Michael's Hospice has decided to join with other charities as it enables us to raise extra income at no extra cost to our supporters.
