Abseil at Eastnor Castle

WHEN: 31 Mar, 2018 | 11am-5pm WHERE: Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury, HR8 1RL

Spend this Easter at Eastnor – and take the plunge for your Hospice.

If abseiling 100 feet down one of Herefordshire’s most eye-catching venues appeals, then this exhilarating challenge is for you.

On Easter Saturday – 31st March – you will have the rare opportunity to scale the north turret of Eastnor Castle in support of St Michael’s Hospice.

Take a moment before ‘going over the top’ to catch a glimpse of the stunning countryside which surrounds the popular tourist hotspot in the shadow of the picturesque Malvern Hills.

Then, it’s all downhill as you’re safely and expertly guided back to terra firma and into the welcoming arms of your watching family and friends.

All abseilers will receive a Grounds Pass to be used on the day, with a 50% entrance discount for up to two of their guests. Please note; parents and guardians will be classed as guests if their child is abseiling.

Places, which are limited, are allocated on a first come, first served basis, and we anticipate a very high demand.

The event is open to those aged between eight and 80. Those under 18 must complete a consent form signed by their parent or guardian.

No previous experience is necessary as training will be given on the day.

Prior to the event, all participants will be allocated an hour-long time slot between 11am – 4pm, and will complete their abseil at some point within that time.

For instance, your time slot might be between 11am-12pm, meaning you will complete your abseil at some time within that hour.

The maximum weight for those taking part is 115kg (18 stone).

Please note; To access the turret you will have to climb stairs and two ladder flights.

At the top of the second ladder you will also be required to make your way through a small opening, roughly 50cms by 50cms, bringing you on to the turret.

The price is £15 per person. This fee is non-refundable.

This also entitles the participant to free Grounds entry to Eastnor Castle. Up to two guests of the abseiler will be entitled to 50% off the Grounds admission price for that day.

The event will start at 11am and finishes at approximately 5pm.

Please ensure you are at Eastnor Castle at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to enable you to reach the turret and receive your safety briefing.

The event is open to those aged between eight and 80. Those under 18 must complete a consent form signed by their parent or guardian.

Following the success of similar events for St Michael’s, including last year’s abseil at the Old Market, Hereford Kayak and Canoe is once again helping organise the day.

There will also be a photographer on hand to capture your experience and photos will be available free of charge online.

We are asking abseilers to commit to raising a minimum sponsorship of £50, and families (2 adults and 2 children) to commit to raising £100.
