Co-founders of a leading Mindfulness movement praise St Michael’s

Masterclass held at Hospice by Breathworks leaders Vidyamala Burch and Sona Fricker

The co-founders of a leading international Mindfulness movement say St Michael’s Hospice is one of the best venues they have visited.

Vidyamala Burch and Sona Fricker, who set-up Breathworks in 2005, led a sell-out Masterclass at the Hospice in Bartestree attended by delegates from across the country.

A Mindfulness approach is being recognised with helping people to improve their wellbeing, and in the way they cope with the likes of illness and stress, with Breathworks supporting the Mindfulness teachings at St Michael’s.

The pair spent three days at the Hospice where they also hosted a gathering for Breathworks teachers, followed by a Mindfulness Practice Day.

‘We started out in 2005 and now have more than 350 teachers in 27 countries,’ said Sona.

‘St Michael’s is one of the best venues we have ever used.

‘The technology here is on a par with the Singapore Management University where we were recently.

‘I think the surroundings here also make such a huge difference. I think there’s something about being in the countryside that is naturally de-stressing.’

The sell-out event followed a similar Masterclass at St Michael’s, hosted by Vidyamala, last September.

The events were held in the Hospice’s Education suite, a facility which is regularly hired out to businesses when not in use by the Education team.
