Respite Care
Due to the demand for our services we cannot offer general respite care in our in-patient ward, but we do admit people for short periods to get symptoms under control. We do however have daily respite care in our Day Hospice, where an individual may attend on a Wednesday or Thursday between 10am and 3pm. Patients are referred to the Hospice either by their GP, Community Macmillan Nurses, District Nurses, hospital Doctors or Oncologists. Before being referred to the Day Hospice, each person will have had a thorough consultation with the Medical Director, Tony Blower, as an out-patient. If it is felt that the Day Hospice is appropriate, the individual is initially invited to attend for one day a week for 12 weeks.
