Art going under the hammer during auction
Auction to coincide with Ledbury Poetry Festival
Unique, handmade pieces of art inspired by Ledbury Poetry Festival will go under the hammer during an auction to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice.
More than 20 lots, featuring a cross-section of mediums, will go on sale at the Trumpet Corner Tea Room and Art Gallery near Ledbury on Friday 13th July from 7.30pm.
The evening will be led by Kate Bliss, an antiques expert on hit BBC shows Bargain Hunt and Flog It, with the artwork created specifically for the event by talented Herefordshire-based artists including Ed Elliott and Caroline Green, resident artists at Trumpet Corner.
‘Each of the items in this auction has been created by a gifted pool of artists who are all local to Herefordshire,’ said Jo Stephens who owns Trumpet Corner.
‘They have all kindly donated these pieces to help raise as much as we can for St Michael’s Hospice.
‘The lots will also feature a number of art promises and experiences including a session with the artist in residence at Trumpet Corner, plus a vintage afternoon tea for two at the same venue.’
The auction takes place towards the end of a four-week exhibition at Trumpet Corner called Poetry in Art which begins this Friday (22nd June) and celebrates Ledbury Poetry Festival which is held in and around the town between 29th June – 8th July.
Trumpet Corner is also hosting two exhibitions later in the year with a remembrance theme in November followed by a festive exhibition ahead of Christmas.
