Corporate Fundraising - Building Business Together
St Michael’s Hospice is the most important provider of Specialist Palliative and End of Life care for Herefordshire and the immediate surrounding Counties. We have the largest catchment area of any Hospice in England. As well as caring for patients both in the Hospice and in the community, we support families and carers.
Education is a vital element of our work and St Michael’s Hospice is a lead provider of palliative care education across the West Midlands. We offer training for carers as well as other healthcare professionals, doctors, nurses and care home staff (from NVQs up to degree level). We provide a 24 hour help line for medical professionals and GPs supporting patients in the community, who are seeking best advice on palliative care practise.
Children and families are offered a range of group activities, as well as one to one support, so that our Hospice is a safe and supportive community for the whole family. Last year we cared for over 1,380 individuals. We do not charge for our care and services but each year we need over £4million to fund our services. We only receive just over 10% of our income from the NHS, which is one of the lowest contributions towards hospice care in the country. However, we remain one of the most cost efficient providers of hospice services and also a centre of excellence, receiving awards for the care and education services we provide.
